Select microbial strains and components using scientific rationale, genomic information and targeted investigation.
SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
Microbes interact with the body in ways that extend beyond their abundance or composition. veMico investigates biologically active microbial components, how they are recognised by host systems and how that knowledge can guide defined postbiotic ingredient development.

HOST-RESPONSE TECHNOLOGY
The host recognises microbial components through pattern-recognition receptors, including Toll-like receptors (TLRs), which are involved in immune signalling, inflammation and epithelial barrier responses.
veMico’s experimental screening has investigated differential TLR2 and TLR4 signalling, with TLR2 agonist-like and TLR4 antagonist-like responses in laboratory models. These observations inform the characterisation of VMK223; they do not establish the mechanisms responsible for its human study outcomes.
